In Responce To: Is it good for bands to participate in commercials? - Ben Brown

Is it good for bands to participate in commercials?

I really don't think its a good thing for bands to participate in any commercials which promote another product.

I'm in full agreement with Ben on this topic. This most recent X-Mas my little brother got the newest Guitar Hero, included was the newest Soundgarden CD (It was awful by the way). A prime example of a band selling out hard.

With most of my music selection I tend to stay away from main stream or anything on the radio for that matter, partly because its a majority of the bands who sold out hard and are on the top 40 list for hits.

Apple Employee Tells All

"We aren't paid on commission, but you fear for your job if you're not selling enough."
"Sometimes the company can feel like a cult."

In a quick article on CNN an Apple Employee explains how his job at Apple changes the person he is. He feels as if he is in a cult of some sort and that the atmosphere in the store is all about selling selling selling.

Its sad when an employee says, "When I'm there, I get sucked into the competitive culture. Normally I'm pretty low-key, but when I'm at the store, it's all sell, sell, sell!"

Do you think employees should change who they are just to do well at there place of work?
